Override Policy

The enrollment has been expanded recently to accommodate as many students as possible. Nonetheless, students wishing to enroll in the course sometimes find themselves on a wait list or completely closed out. Nothing pains a teacher more than having serious students when there is no room to permit them to enroll. However, it is equally unfair to allow the class size to grow such that learning cannot effectively take place. Therefore, I grant overrides in the following order, as long as total enrollment does not exceed 50 students/section.

  1. Students currently enrolled who need to change sections.
  2. Students officially waitlisted.
  3. Students who could not waitlist, but email me. Accepted in the date/time order email received.
  4. Anyone else.

Restrictions:

  • If there are more students in the above categories than we have space for, graduating seniors will take precedence.
  • Students seeking an override must attend all classes. Decisions are usually made the second class.
  • Audits, sit-ins, etc. are not permitted.
